Innervision
with Anaïs-Tohé Commaret in collaboration with Konstantinos Kyriakopoulos
October 8th 2022 – December 10th 2023
Curated by Extramentale for Galerie Edouard Manet de Gennevilliers
InnerVision is an exhibition that carries the promises of cinema, reconfigured in the era of intimate gathering. It brings together the film director Anaïs-Tohé Commaret and Konstantinos Kyriakopoulos, artist, who gives form to the apparatuses of cinema and home cinema.
Together, they unfold a dreamlike exhibition journey which is built around five films by Anaïs-Tohé Commaret, including the first two episodes of the web series « Disparaître », produced and broadcasted via Extramentale. These short films, housed on the internet, will take place and shape in the exhibition, which opens with the ambitious installation by Konstantinos Kyriakopoulos, specially conceived for the new film by Anaïs-Tohé Commaret, 8 (Huit).
Shot during this year, this film follows Emma, a teenager who discovers shifting on Tiktok. This practice, widespread among teenagers, allows them to immerse themselves in a state of self-hypnosis in order to escape from the common reality.
And it is, perhaps, this capacity to lodge in another reality that unites the films of this exhibition. Looking towards the extramental universe, the characters of these films navigate on the summits of a dream wich contains a political dimension. The exhibition, conceived in its relation to life and cinema, invites you to encounter them: their names are Emma, Fatim, Philippe, MOlotov94, Yolaine Ducroq + Mauvaise, and they stand perpendicular to the rest of the world.
